START GP OF LATVIA

The 9th Round of the FIM World Championship was held on the circuit of Kegums in Latvia and again was a top Grand Prix for the Italian Team at his first season at the highest level placing his two riders Harri KULLAS and Christophe CHARLIER rispectively in 7th and 8th position of the GP standings. In the first moto the finnish Kullas took a superbe start turning the first corner on the wheels of the World Champion Marvin Musquin and could ride most of the race in 4th position and finished 6th to equal the best performance of his young career. In the second moto some troubles in the first laps caused him the loss of some postions but, after getting the right rythm Kullas fought back to the 12th position for a final 7th of the day, his best so far !!! The french Christophe CHARLIER had a troubled start in the first moto with another rider crashing on him and after re-starting in 31st position he came back to the 10th place riding really fast and sharp. In the second moto Charlier had a good start and after passing a few riders he could finish 9th and 8th overall of the day which confirms him very consistent after the stop of two GP’s in May.

CHARLIER IN LATVIA

Harri Kullas, Yamaha Monster Energy Gariboldi, 7th:

“ I’m happy about this weekend because for the last two GPs I didn’t have much luck with two small concussions. In the first race I took a good start and I was third at the beginning and I pushed to see what I could do and had a nice battle with Roelants but he was a bit too fast and I finished 6th which is good for me. In the second moto I was in the top ten again but I wasn’t so sharp on the first lap and dropped a few places. I worked on getting my rhthm together and I passed a few riders including Simpson on the last lap. 7th overall is a good results even if I could have done better in the second moto.”

Christophe Charlier, Yamaha Monster Energy Gariboldi, 8th:

“Somebody crashed on my bike on the first corner and I had to start last in the first moto. I had already gone down a few times on Saturday so I wanted to be more careful but I pushed back anyway and could finish 10th. The second race was pretty good but after twenty minutes I started feeling the effort I made in the first race and feeling a bit tired and I had to calm down a bit. I think this was a step in the right direction and I will be finally at my best in the next GPs.”
