INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA ROUND #3 CASTIGLIONE DEL LAGO
TONKOV 11th IN SUPERFINAL ELITE IN ROUND #3 OF THE INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA IN CASTIGLIONE DEL LAGO AND 3rd BEST MX2
The 3rd round of the Internazionali d’Italia took place on the historic circuit of Castiglione del Lago where the riders found a very dry track with hard pack. The russian rider of the HONDA GARIBOLDI-ESTA Team, Aleksandr TONKOV, after scoring a good third laptime in the time practice was forced to retire in the MX2 race after a crash at the start. In the Superfinal Elite TONKOV had to start with the last gate and against the opposition of the 450 bikes the task was not easy but the russian rode a good race and could finish 11th overall and 3rd of the MX2 class mantaining his 6th position in the Elite overall ranking.
“I took a pretty good start in the MX2 race but somebody hit me from behind and we all crashed, my bike was damaged and I could not restart. In the Superfinal I was forced to enter last at the starting gates and it was not easy against the 450.”, commented Aleksandr Tonkov.
