The eleven round of the MX World Championship came back on the sandy track of Kegums in Latvia under great conditions.

David PHILIPPAERTS has been once more very regular on his racing weekend trying to finish all races on two wheels on his way to full recovery from the recent crashes. DP19 finished 11th in the overall of the day having to fight to come through the field in both motos on a very bumpy and difficult track and he was able to find his marks only in the second part of both races signing his fastest laptime at the end. After the three races in northern Europe, the last being in Finland next weekend, DP19 will find more suitable tracks for his riding style and, with the recovery of his physical condition, he will fight again for the top positions.

The good news in Latvia came from the youngster russian Vseva BRYLYAKOV choosen by the team and Honda to race in the MX2 class since the last GP in Sweden, and the kid did not waste his big chance surprising everybody in Kegums when in the second moto he was able to start twelve from the very outside positition and pass riders like Nicholls and Ferris to come 8th and race till the last 3 laps in top 8 rejecting all the attacks of Ferris and just loosing a few positions, when he was completely exhausted, in the last two laps after such an intense race to finish a brilliant 13th. With more races mixing up with the top guys, Brylyakov could learn fast and be one to watch for the next seasons !

Giacomo Gariboldi, Team Manager Honda Gariboldi:

“Today I was really impressed by young Brylyakov, I didn’t expect to see him passing some top guys and keep their rhytm untill the very end of the race, lowering his laptimes fours seconds in two days, it’s really huge ! He raced so fast and without any mistake and at the end in the last lap he was completely flat but could finish his race. Now he has to put his head down and keep working hard, but he is an intelligent kid and knows what to do if he wants to become a top rider. I’m also very happy about DP19, he did not like the track and it was important to finish both motos.”
